WHAT WE DO

What We Do

Child Education

Ensuring every child has the right to quality education (SDG 4) is our primary mission. We focus on underprivileged children to ensure inclusive and equitable education, which is the key to ending poverty (SDG 1) in the long run.

Key Activities: Operating non-formal primary education centers, providing school supplies, and preventing school dropouts through guardian awareness campaigns.

Child-Education

Children and Adolescent Voice

"Investing in the future of Bangladesh by nurturing child-led advocacy and youth leadership. By providing quality education (SDG 4), mental health support (SDG 3), and climate adaptation tools, SORA ensures every young mind has the voice and the power to drive social change."

Key Activities: Establishing adolescent "Kishore-Kishori" clubs, providing mental health counseling, and organizing sports and cultural programs for holistic growth.

Women-Empowerment

Women Empowerment

We believe that empowering women is the cornerstone of social reconstruction. Our initiatives focus on achieving gender equality (SDG 5) by giving women the tools to lead and earn. By providing vocational training, we promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth and decent work for all (SDG 8), enabling women to become financially independent.

Key Activities: Leadership training for grassroots women, providing micro-entrepreneurship support, and forming self-help groups (SHGs) for financial inclusion.

Eliminating Discrimination Against Women

Fostering a world free from violence and inequality is central to our mission of achieving gender equality (SDG 5). We work to eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls in the public and private spheres, ensuring peace and justice (SDG 16).

Key Activities: Sensitization workshops for community leaders, legal counseling for victims of abuse, and "Stop Child Marriage" campaigns.

Autism and Disability Welfare

SORA advocates for a society where "disability" is seen as a "different ability." By providing specialized support, we work towards reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and ensuring that persons with disabilities have access to decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).

Key Activities: Providing physiotherapy and speech therapy, vocational training for persons with disabilities, and advocating for inclusive public infrastructure.

Elderly Welfare

SORA honors the wisdom of our seniors by ensuring they live with dignity and health. Our programs focus on holistic care for the elderly, who are often neglected. By promoting healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages (SDG 3), we provide regular health check-ups and geriatric care. We also organize social integration programs to reduce loneliness, ensuring no one is left behind in our pursuit of reduced inequalities (SDG 10).
Caring for the elderly in Bangladesh requires a beautiful balance of dignity, health, and social connection. Since SORA is so focused on human rights and community empowerment, these activities should make the elderly feel like active participants in society, not just recipients of care.

Key Activities:

1. Health & Physical Well-being (SDG 3)

  • Vitality Walks: Group-based light exercise or yoga sessions tailored for seniors.
  • Nutrition for Elders: Workshops on diet and food safety specifically for aging bodies.

Agriculture

Agricultural Development & Homestead Gardening

To ensure food security and improve nutrition (SDG 2), we promote sustainable agriculture. SORA encourages "Homestead Gardening" to help families achieve self-sufficiency, which also contributes to the responsible consumption and production (SDG 12) of organic food.

Key Activities: Distributing high-quality organic seeds, training farmers on climate-smart agriculture, and promoting vermicompost and vertical gardening.

Peace, Justice, and Anti-Trafficking

SORA stands as a shield for the marginalized, promoting peaceful and inclusive societies (SDG 16). At the grassroots level, we build accountable institutions and community-led vigilance committees to prevent exploitation and ensure a safe, crime-free environment for every citizen.

Key Activities: Providing free legal aid for the underprivileged, human rights awareness workshops, Anti Trafficking awareness and monitoring/reporting rights violations.

Peace

Climate Action

As a frontline organization in a climate-vulnerable region, we take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts (SDG 13). SORA works to build "Climate Resilient Communities" and focuses on making settlements inclusive, safe, and resilient (SDG 11) through disaster preparedness and sustainable infrastructure.

Key Activities: Community-led disaster preparedness training, constructing flood-resilient shelters, and promoting sustainable adaptation techniques.

Environmental Resilience

"We are committed to a sustainable future by integrating climate change adaptation into our environmental conservation efforts (SDG 15). By leading massive afforestation projects and sustainable waste management, SORA protects biodiversity and restores the ecosystems essential for shielding our planet - and our people - from the growing threats of a changing climate."

Key Activities: Annual tree plantation drives, plastic-free zone campaigns, and community awareness on biodiversity conservation.

Key Activities: Training on scientific fish farming, livestock vaccination camps, and helping families set up small-scale poultry or cattle farms.

Health, Nutrition, and Food Safety

"Improving community health is a core priority for SORA. We focus on reducing maternal mortality and ending preventable deaths of newborns and children (SDG 3) by integrating quality healthcare with stringent food safety standards. By promoting nutritional security, clean water, and sanitation (SDG 6), SORA works to eliminate foodborne diseases and ensure every family has access to the safe, healthy sustenance they need to thrive."

Key Activities: Satellite clinics for maternal care, hygiene and sanitation (WASH) workshops, and nutrition support for malnourished children.

Our mission is to integrate marginalized gender groups into the mainstream economy and ensure their social acceptance.

Key Activities: Sensitization programs for social inclusion of the third gender, advocacy for their legal rights, and creating gender-sensitive environments in workplaces and educational institutions.

This program also supports Quality Education (SDG 4) by equipping the underprivileged with modern digital skills, enabling them to compete in the global marketplace.

Key Activities: Operating specialized IT training centers, providing hands-on courses on Digital Marketing and Graphic Design, and mentoring students to build successful careers on international freelancing platforms.
